Croatia forward Ivica Olic got free and was tripped for the penalty kick in the fourth minute that resulted in the only goal and was a constant threat against Austria in a 1-0 victory.

 

Lukas Podolski scored twice, including a sensational left-footed volley for Germany's second goal in a 2-0 victory over Poland. Podolski pounced on a mis-hit by Miroslav Klose and powered a shot over goalkeeper Artur Boruc in the 72nd minute.
