PSG 3-1 Toulouse: Dembele Double Extends Ligue 1 Lead

Ousmane Dembele celebrates after scoring for PSG against Toulouse

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Toulouse 3-1 at Parc des Princes on Friday, with Ousmane Dembele scoring twice to move Luis Enrique’s side four points clear at the top of Ligue 1 ahead of Lens. The result strengthens PSG’s position in a tightening title race as the season enters a decisive phase.

Paris Saint-Germain began on the front foot, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia testing Guillaume Restes twice inside the opening minutes. The early pressure reflected PSG’s attacking intent, as Dembele also fired narrowly wide within the first quarter-hour.

The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute when Dembele struck a volley from the edge of the penalty area, finishing a flowing attacking move. Toulouse responded quickly, capitalising on a defensive error as Rasmus Nicolaisen’s looping header found the far corner following a mistake from goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.

Paris Saint-Germain restored their lead shortly after the half-hour mark through another well-worked set piece. Lee Kang-in’s inswinging corner was flicked on by Kvaratskhelia at the near post, leaving Dembele unmarked to convert from close range for his second goal of the night.

Ousmane Dembele thought he had completed his hat-trick later in the match, but the effort was ruled out for offside. PSG continued to create chances, with Willian Pacho and Kvaratskhelia both going close as the hosts maintained control in the final stages.

The third goal eventually arrived through Goncalo Ramos, whose curling effort from distance struck the post before finding the net. The goal ensured a comfortable margin for Paris Saint-Germain, reflecting their overall dominance across the contest.

Paris Saint-Germain generated 1.78 expected goals from 17 attempts, compared to Toulouse’s 0.16 from five shots, underlining the control exercised by Luis Enrique’s side throughout the match. The performance also highlighted the attacking efficiency that has defined PSG’s recent run.

Ousmane Dembele’s brace continues a remarkable scoring record, with 41 goals in 62 matches across all competitions since January 2025. That output represents a significant improvement compared to his previous tally of 40 goals in 202 appearances between 2019 and 2024.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also delivered a standout performance despite not scoring. The winger won all 13 of his duels, completed every dribble attempt, and contributed defensively with four successful tackles, while also creating multiple chances and leading the match in total shots.

With this victory, Paris Saint-Germain place immediate pressure on Lens in the Ligue 1 standings, extending their advantage at the top as the competition approaches its final stretch.
